Return and Refund Policy

At Atelier for Fine Stringed Instruments, Inc. ("Atelier," "we," "us," "our"), we are committed to ensuring customer satisfaction. This Return and Refund Policy outlines the conditions under which rented instruments and related accessories can be returned, and refunds issued. By renting from Atelier, you agree to the terms of this policy.

Return/Cancellation Policy

  1. Instrument Returns/Cancellations:

    • Condition: All instruments, cases, and bows must be returned in the same condition as they were received, with normal wear and tear excepted. Instruments should be clean and free of excessive damage, including but not limited to dings, dents, and scratches.

    • Components: All components of the rented outfit, including the instrument, bow, case, and rosin, must be returned. Any missing or damaged components will result in additional charges.

    • Return Locations: Instruments must be returned to the location from which they were rented. Our locations are:

      • Greenwich/Cos Cob: 403 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich/Cos Cob, CT 06807

      • Norwalk: 20 Fitch ST, Norwalk CT 06855

    • Return Deadline: Instruments must be returned by the due date specified in the rental agreement. Failure to return the instrument by the due date will result in automatic renewal of the rental term and corresponding charges.

  2. Accessory Returns:

    • Condition: Purchased accessories must be returned in their original condition.

    • Packaging: Purchased accessories should be returned with their original packaging.

Refund Policy

  1. Instrument Rentals:

    • No Refunds for Early Returns: We do not provide refunds for instruments returned before the expiration of the rental contract. The full rental fee is due for the entire rental period as agreed upon in the contract.

    • Automatic Renewal: If the instrument is not returned by the due date, the rental agreement will be automatically renewed, and fees for the additional rental period will be charged.

  2. Accessory Purchases:

    • Refund Eligibility: Unused accessories in their original condition and packaging can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.

    • Refund Process: To initiate a refund for accessories, please contact us at rentalsatelier@gmail.com or visit the location where the accessory was purchased. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 7-10 business days of receiving the returned item.

Damage and Theft Insurance (DT Insurance)

  1. Claims:

    • If you have purchased optional Damage and Theft Insurance and need to file a claim for a stolen or damaged instrument, please provide a police or school report supporting your claim. The report must be submitted within 10 days of the occurrence.

    • Claims are subject to the terms outlined in the rental agreement.

Additional Information

  1. Exchanges:

    • Instruments can be exchanged for the next size or quality level at any time. A nominal restocking fee will apply. Please contact us for more details.
